About Us
The establishment of the association is based on the need for a platform that would enhance cooperation, harmonization of efforts, collaboration, and sharing of knowledge among African energy journalists and publishers
Establishment
AJERAP was conceptualized in Lagos, Nigeria in 2023 and fully established in 2024, after several engagements with founding members from Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa
Members
AJERAP has grown to attract members from other African nations, including Angola, Libya, Algeria, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania, Mozambique, Tanzania, Egypt, Benin, Cameroun, Côte d’Ivoire, South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and Niger.
Our Structure
Advisory Board
The board is made up of a few strategic and committed senior industry leaders, presidents, ministers, chief executive officers, CEOs. Their roles are mainly advisory.
Board of Trustees
This is made up of the founding members of the association, who should provide direction, guide the association as well as appoint members of the advisory board on a term basis.
The Executives
The executives, including the Executive Chairman, Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations Officer. They are responsible for executing the affairs of the association.
Our Partners
To accomplish its mission, the association has either partnered or is in the process of partnering with some relevant stakeholders, including
- The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries
- OPEC in Vienna
- African Petroleum Producers Organisation, APPO in the Republic of Congo
- African Energy Chamber in South Africa
- some Research and Development, R&D organizations
It is also partnering with other stakeholders, including organisations, regulators and academic institutions. This is targeted at enabling it to continuously impact positively the development of energy and related sectors in Africa and globally.
